Latest Update from George:
Within the last year I have been thinking a lot on how to become better at my sport, it took a while to look at all aspects but in the end I had to make a big decision and move to Nottingham home of the Great Britain training team and National centre for canoe slalom. This has allowed me to train with the best and have the best facilities to train with. With excellent white-water, flat water, gym and local running facilities to cross-train. Since the move I haven’t had any races, but personal performance levels have gone through the roof and continuing to improve all the time. I cannot wait to get competing again in late September and have a tapering two weeks before the race. Training is very hard both physically and mentally, training 12-15 times per week in the boat, gym and on the road. Each training session is between 1-3 hours and I am training a six day week, 2-3 times per day.

How was I able to do this?

I was awarded the Joanna Brown Trust Sport Islington £2000 grant which allowed me to have some money to find my feet and sub my training costs and food needs, this was an amazing grant and helped me further my improvements and better me as an athlete. Without this it would have been incredibly hard to make the big jump I needed. I will post results and any further up-dates on my training over the coming months.

Cheers,

George
